With blizzard conditions closing in, the search for a missing snowmobiler in Labrador has been suspended.
The snowmobiler, who had set out for his cabin northwest of Cartwright last week, was reported missing on Friday.
It was determined that the machine had been driven off the ice and into open water in blizzard conditions.
The RCMP underwater recovery team yesterday conducted a thorough search of the area where the snowmobile entered the ocean, with the help of the Canadian Rangers.
Searchers battled strong currents, ice pans and frigid temperatures, but were unable to locate the man or the snowmobile. WIth blizzard conditions expected today, the search was suspended.
The investigation continues, however, and anyone with information or possible sightings is asked to contact Cartwright RCMP.
