Team Gushue is back in the province after an impressive showing at the Olympics that saw the team earn bronze medals, but there’s no rest for the weary as the team now has their sights set on the Tim Horton’s Brier.
That tournament begins next Friday.
Skip Brad Gushue says the team was caught at a weak moment, and when asked if they wanted to play they agreed. However, he says had they been asked on Tuesday, fresh off of a flight back home, it might have been a different answer.
Nonetheless, the Olympians will depart for the Brier next week.
Gushue says everyone is mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausted. Over the next seven or nine days they’re hoping to get their motivation back to perform at the Brier.
Mark Nichols jokes that the team will have to go digging to find the motivation to tackle the competition. But, once they have some time to get back into their normal time zone and spend time with friends and family, he’s hoping they’ll recover. He says the adrenaline will carry them through.
