A number of community spaces on the west coast and Northern Peninsula will be getting a revitalization thanks to federal funding from the Canadian Community Revitalization Fund.
The Minister of Rural Economic Development and MP for Long Range Mountains, Gudie Hutchings, made the announcement today.
Over $750,000 will be split among 15 projects throughout the riding to adapt community spaces so they can be used safely, as well as improve infrastructure to encourage people from near and far to explore the communities.
Hutchings says after two years of the pandemic, this money will be a great asset to community members, but also the hard-hit travel, tourism and hospitality sector.
She says a lot of the projects announced are about making sure the communities are ready to welcome tourists and residents of the province alike.
The communities and groups who received funding are Rose Blanche Lighthouse Inc., Steady Brook, Lark Harbour, Main Brook, Hampden, Englee, the French Shore Historical Society, St. Anthony Bight Local Service District, Port au Choix, Meadows, Happy Gang 50+ Handicrafts, Raleigh Historical Corporation, Parsons Pond, Howley and the Islaview Foundation.
