The local community is rallying behind a family whose home was damaged as a result of the heavy rains last weekend.

According to information on a GoFundMe organized by Madge Warren, her brother Larry’s home in Summerside was damaged by a landslide caused by the torrential rainfall.

She says the garage and all of its contents have been buried underneath the rubble, and the family’s two vehicles were also compromised.

They have been evacuated from their home and do not know when they can get back to check on what, if anything, can be saved.

Warren says the family has been told that insurance won’t cover any costs as the situation has been ruled a natural disaster.

They are looking for funds to help offset the costs of the cleanup.
