A man wrongly convicted of murdering his mother is still looking for answers from the justice system on evidence which he says was suppressed.
Catherine Carroll was stabbed to death at her home in St. John’s in 1991.
Greg Parsons was convicted in her death, but acquitted seven years later on the basis of DNA evidence.
The real murderer, his boyhood friend, Brian Doyle, was then convicted of the crime.
Parsons has been fighting to keep him behind bars, but says he will be eligible for full parole come May.
He says the CTV news investigative program W5 will be in St. John’s in the next while as part of their story on the case.
He’s asking anyone, particularly law enforcement personnel who may have since retired, to use the occasion to speak out.
Parsons says some of the evidence, including incidents which occurred at a party attended by Doyle, emerged only recently.
He wants to know why.
He says thank god that the chief investigator, Bob Johnston, gave information before he passed.
