Now that the winter Olympics are over, the attention turns to the winter Paralympics which begin next week.
In Newfoundland and Labrador all eyes will be on Paralympic medalist Liam Hickey, who is playing on the Team Canada hockey team.
Hickey’s father Todd jokes that Liam hates to lose and wanted to take his competition to another level.
Hickey says Liam was always supported by the local sporting community, and para-sports was the direction he took when he saw the opportunities it presented.
Hickey admits that the local para sport system needs a bit of support, but he says Liam was always steered in the right direction.
