The Town of Clarenville and its neighboring partners are launching a new project called “Making Tracks’ to capitalize on the year round tourism potential of the area.
Clarenville is strategically situated to offer a year round outdoor experience with trail connections that allow ATV, snowmobile and bike users to access routes in three directions—towards the Bonavista Peninsula as well as east or west to destinations along the provincial T’Railway.
Paul Tilley is a Town Councillor in Clarenville. He says along the trail there are QR codes, something most of us have become familiar with thanks to VaxPasses.
Tilley says you can snap a picture of the QR code with your phone along the trail and see all the information on their web portal, including GPS, maps, area and destination information. That way people can see how they’re doing as they’re riding along the trails.
The Deputy Mayor and Town Councillor highlights some of the various sights and destinations you can see along the way.
Tilley says you can go east, towards St. John’s, out to Argentia along the trail from Clarenville and theoretically head west as far as Port Aux Basques. He adds that there are a number of trails that bring you towards Terra Nova, and a crash site along the way, which is a popular tourism spot.
More information on Making Trails can be found online at the Town of Clarenville’s website.
