Students in the College of the North Atlantic’s Accelerated Software Development Program are making waves in the gaming industry.
Eric Stock, the Software Development instructor at the college, in conjunction with Other Ocean Interactive, had his students create a web application designed to administer accessories to players, known as ‘Twitch Drops’, for the hit video game Project Winter.
Stock explains that Twitch Drops are a feature where viewers of Twitch stream can be awarded in-game cosmetics to incentivize watching more streams.
Twitch, the popular streaming platform, boasts millions of viewers daily.
During the virtual presentation, students showed off their designs, in this case a jacket and a skidoo helmet, that can be unlocked after watching a particular stream for a set amount of time. The items can then be worn by the viewer’s own character in the game.
