Restoration work is underway to the heritage building which houses the Ferryland Museum, with the assistance of the provincial government’s COVID-19 Stimulus Program.
Ferryland Museum is a two-storey wooden structure, built in 1916 by the Bank of Montreal. It has been designated a municipal heritage site by the town of Ferryland because of its aesthetic, historic and cultural values.
The heritage building restoration project is one of over 250 in communities across the province funded under the COVID-19 Stimulus Program. Roughly $23.5-million was allocated for the program. The Ferryland Museum received $135,000 toward the renovation.
Other projects include upgrades and renovations to municipal buildings and fire halls, as well as improvements to recreational infrastructure such as parks, playgrounds and trails.
Ferryland Mayor Aiden Costello says the program has been a great help to the town, and they are eager to welcome visitors to the restored building in the near future.
