The MHA for Torngat Mountains is joining the NDP. Lela Evans left the PC Party last fall but chose to sit as an independent. However, she now sits with the NDP, boosting their caucus to three and joining fellow Labradorian Jordan Brown.
Evans’ decision was announced during a news conference at Confederation Building Monday afternoon. Interim party leader Jim Dinn was in attendance, as was party president Kyle Rees.

She says the decision was not a sudden one, noting that it was something that developed over a period of time.
She says she built relationships with former leader Allison Coffin, Jordan Brown, and current interim leader of the NDP Jim Dinn since being first elected in 2019.
