The Newfoundland and Labrador Public Sector Pensioners’ Association and the Seniors Coalition have joined forces to call on government to take action in light of the rising cost of living.
Fuel prices saw a steep increase late last week with no indication that price relief is coming.
The provincial government has indicated it’s looking at options to help people struggling with increased food and fuel costs.
The President of the Public Sector Pensioners’ Association, Doreen Noseworthy, says seniors are facing very tough decisions about how to heat their homes and pay for groceries.
Where else can you turn? Noseworthy asks. She says pensioners do not see any increases under the government program while prices continue to increase.
