The Nunatsiavut Government says expanding the number of housing units on the coast of Labrador and the need for more office space are among the infrastructure priorities set out in its latest budget.
The budget was handed down this week in Hopedale.
$29 million dollars has been set aside for infrastructure needs including transportation, broadband and waste and water systems. That includes the construction of a new multi-purpose building in Nain.
A total of $41 million has been set aside to address housing needs on the coast of Labrador. Including $15 million for the home and emergency repair program. Design and construction of seniors units and quadplexes in Nain and Hopedale and a duplex in Makkovik are among the projects outlined in this year’s budget.
The budget also outlines continued plans toward the revitalization of Inuktitut which has been identified as of utmost importance.
