There will be a second trial in the case of a high school student who was struck by a car and killed on the Northern Peninsula.
Seventeen-year-old Justin Hynes was walking on Main Street near the intersection of Veteran’s Road in Cow Head on September 11, 2017 when a car driven by Neila Blanchard struck him. She was acquitted of dangerous driving causing death in the first trial but the Crown appealed on grounds that the trial judge erred on several fronts.
The Court of Appeal of Newfoundland and Labrador has agreed unanimously to retry the case.
