The vessel which was adrift off of Cape St. Mary’s is now safely anchored in Placentia.
The bulk carrier MV Comanche’s engine failed, bringing it to a stop. It was towed to safety.
Meanwhile, the MSC Kim, a vessel previously adrift off of the Port au Port Peninsula is now docked in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
The Coast Guard vessels involved in the towing effort of both ships have returned to regular duty.
With the MSC Kim arriving safely in Sydney on Friday, March 11, our #EnvironmentalResponse activities are concluding. #BravoZulu to our vessel crews, MCTS officers, & all who helped mitigate the safety and environmental risks posed by this large vessel being adrift on the water. pic.twitter.com/xOTSHMK92P
