The House of Assembly reconvenes for the spring sitting this afternoon, with more than a few contentious issues up for debate.
There were a couple of times last session when members ran out of things to ask during question period.
That will not happen today.
From fuels to fluorspar, from Muskrat to mitigation, and Bay du Nord to the budget, there’s something for everyone to either get riled up about, or fall over themselves with desk-slapping support.
That’s especially true for the $5-million asset review by the Rothschild firm, that’s been dogged by union ads warning against the selloff of anything that’s making money for the government.
Nonetheless, the report is due this month and comes with advice on what to do with what they have—including oil and gas holdings, the NLC, provincial registries and Marble Mountain, to name just a few.
Premier Andrew Furey won’t be in the House for reopening today. He’s in Ottawa for the virtual address of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Today also marks the first time Tory-turned-NDP MHA Lela Evans sits in the legislature with her new party.
