Canada’s national annual inflation rate was 5.7 per cent in February, Statistics Canada says.
The agency reports gas prices shot up 32.3 per cent year-over-year in February.
Rising fuel prices contributed to a 7.4 per cent rise in grocery store prices.
That’s the largest yearly increase in that category since May of 2009, while prices for homes and rental units rose at their fastest pace since August, 1983.
The rate in Newfoundland and Labrador in February was 5.1 per cent, up from 4.0 in January.
