The Newfoundland and Labrador NDP are raising concerns about learning resources for refugees who may be coming into the province.
NDP interim leader Jim Dinn raised his concerns during Question Period in the House of Assembly.
He asked Education Minister Tom Osborne about his plan to put the proper resources in place, such as English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers, that refugee children will need.
Osborne says the province has been proactive in putting resources in place.
He pointed to the effort to bring Syrian refugees to the province last year.
He says additional resources and positions were added at that time and the province is well equipped to handle the children.
Dinn would later tell reporters that he has spoken with a number of schools who have told him that they have not seen the extra resources that Osborne is talking about, noting that he is “frustrated” by the situation, because it doesn’t appear that government has a plan.
