One of two women allegedly involved in a disturbance in Carbonear on Wednesday has been released on bail.
32-year-old Alyshia George of Old Shop, Trinity Bay was freed on strict conditions a day after the rampage at the TC Square Mall.
50-year-old Catherine Thorne of Victoria also appeared in Harbour Grace court yesterday but was denied bail pending another hearing this afternoon.
The incident began around 2 p.m. Wednesday, forcing some stores to close up, with staff sheltering themselves inside.
RCMP say what was initially a report of shoplifting quickly escalated into scary behaviour, with the suspects allegedly threatening and assaulting people while damaging storefronts and merchandise.
They say both women were arrested at the scene without further incident.
George faces mostly theft charges while Thorne is accused of assaults, death threats, causing a disturbance and damages. She was already in the system facing unrelated charges including arson and assaulting an officer.
