Karate action is going to be kicked into high gear at the Mary Brown’s Centre this summer.
Karate Canada has announced that the 2022 Junior and Senior National Championships will take place at the arena from July 1-3, welcoming martial artists from across the country as they compete for a roster spot on the National Karate Team.
Roughly 530 athletes are expected to participate, roughly 40 per cent of which are female.
In addition to the championship tournament, other events scheduled include the National Coaching Certification Program training, Officials training, Karate Dan testing, along with an award gala.
Craig Vokey, President of Karate Canada, says this is the first major event in Canada for the organization since 2019, adding that there is no better place to kick things off than on the Rock.
Tickets to the event will be made available through the Mary Browns Centre box office.
