Forget the brush—Sheila is about to throw the broom at parts of Labrador.
A prolonged intense storm will swipe southern, coastal and central Labrador today through Tuesday and possibly into Wednesday. Environment Canada says 30 to 50 cm could fall. Meteorologist David Neal says not only that, but winds could be in the 70 to 100 km/h, bringing blizzard-like conditions.
Winds are currently at about 60 km/h but they will pick up and blow the snow around.
The average snow depth in Happy Valley-Goose Bay this time of year is 76 cm but it’s currently over 100 cm.
Meanwhile, a large swath of Newfoundland is under a freezing rain warning from Clarenville to central Newfoundland, along the northeast coast and parts of the Northern Peninsula.
