Mandatory helmet and seatbelt use for all off-road vehicles in the province will be coming into effect in May.
The provincial government says the changes are to strengthen legislation and modernize safety requirements.
Seatbelts will only be required if they have been installed on the machine by the manufacturer, and helmets will not be required for hunting and trapping activities involving frequent stops where speed is less than 20 km/h.
According to government, off-road vehicle safety is a shared responsibility, and there is “no reason” to wait for the regulations to come into effect to wear seatbelts of helmets.
The regulations come into effect on May 19th.
More information will be announced before that date.
