Noia has changed its name to Energy NL, and with that comes some big changes to its vision and mandate.
Members packed into a conference room at the Delta Hotel Tuesday morning to usher in a new era for the organization.
They say the change was not sudden and has been talked about for many years.
The wheels were really set in motion, however, in early 2021 when an “extensive” consultation process was carried out, which found that members overwhelmingly supported diversification and engagement with other energy sectors.
However, CEO Charlene Johnson says just because the oil and gas reference is gone from the name, it doesn’t mean they’re giving up on the sector.
When asked if that was the case, Johnson was clear in saying “definitely not.”
She says they are expanding and broadening their scope so they can make a contribution to the sector as a whole.
