The province’s Energy Minister says he remains optimistic about the future of the province’s oil industry and Bay du Nord.
Andrew Parsons was responding to some of the worry expressed by proponents of the industry in light of delays in a federal environmental decision on Bay du Nord, and a delay in a call for bids in the Newfoundland offshore.
Parsons understands the concern created by the uncertainty, but remains optimistic that Equinor’s offshore development will be approved.
“I am optimistic that Bay du Nord is going to get sanctioned, approved and proceed,” says Parsons.
He’s also optimistic that offshore land sale to the oil companies will go ahead as it has in previous years.
