A local junior curling team is gearing up to represent the province at the National U18 Canadian Curling Championships in Ontario.
Team Perry, curling out of the ReMax Curling Club in St. John’s and the Caribou Curling Club in Stephenville earned the right by going undefeated through a six-game round-robin tournament last week.
Team Perry consists of Simon Perry, of Portugal Cove, Nicholas Codner, of Torbay, William Butler, of Kippens, and Evan Scott, of St. Philip’s.
The team is coached by Gregory Blyde, of St. John’s.
The team is excited to represent the province on the national stage, with Perry saying there is a lot of pride in putting on the team jacket.
The Championship tournament runs from May 1-7 in Oakville, Ontario.
It is still sinking in that we are going to represent our province as TeamNL at @OakvilleCurling in May after going undefeated in the Provincial tournament at @CARIBOUCC. Thank you to the club volunteers for putting off such a great event. @CurlingCanada @CurlingNL pic.twitter.com/5WDMhmrx3e
