Premier Andrew Furey says government is reviewing a court order to give provincial court judges the raises they were due three years ago.
Last week, a Supreme Court judge ruled the province is acting in an “unconstitutional manner” by continuing to put it off.
Justice Daniel Boone has given the government until April 14 to put it to a vote in the House, or he said he’ll take care of it himself.
On Friday, Furey was asked if the government would abide by the ruling.
He says the province respects the decision, adding Attorney General John Hogan is “doing an analysis (of it) and we will advance it accordingly.”
The raises were recommended by a tribunal set up to ensure judicial independence from the political process.
The panel called for an 8 per cent hike over four years, from 2017 to 2021, which would push salaries over $270,000 a year.
