CUPE NL is asking Newfoundlanders and Labradorians to reject the provincial government’s “reset” plan.
The public sector union is expressing concern about what it calls proposed cuts to the public sector and public services and plans to sell off publicly-owned assets.
The union has launched a radio campaign that will run to April 6 just before provincial budget day.
CUPE NL President Sherry Hillier says staffing shortages are being experienced across the province, but she fears job losses as a result of the provincial government’s plan to address the deficit.
“It’s not a reset,” says Hillier referencing the PERT report released last year, “it’s ending life as we know it in rural communities.”
