It’s going to be a messy 24 hours or so on the weather front with just about every type of precipitation coming at us.
It began first in the southwest this morning and will spread across the island throughout the day, reaching metro by late afternoon. It’s a mix of snow, ice pellets, rain and freezing rain with several hours of freezing rain possible.
Wanda Batten, a meteorologist with the Gander Weather Office, says winds will pick up tonight and overnight to about 60 km/h for most of the island to 100 km/h in the Wreckhouse late this afternoon and tonight.
As well, it could get a little noisy in some areas with the possibility of thunderstorms.
Once the winds shift around, we could see 15 to 25 mm of rain in the south and 10-15 in metro and the Clarenville area.
