The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary are looking to attract some new recruits.
The RNC has launched a new recruitment campaign for its Class of 2023.
Constabulary recruit training is provided through the Atlantic Police Academy in PEI, with follow-up training by the RNC in Newfoundland and Labrador.
RNC Media Relations Officer James Cadigan says through this recruitment, they’re looking for people to supplement and maintain the frontline service.
He says they came through the pandemic being able to provide what he calls a “strong frontline service”. He says with this application process, they’re looking at the Patrol Services Division, which helps support the investigative side of the RNC and the community.
With policing possibly under more scrutiny than ever, Cadigan says officers must understand and respect their community.
He says they look for a level of resilience in officers that allows them to have a compassionate response to people possibly having the worst day of their lives. He says it’s important officers have strong communication skills and can connect with people.
