A 21-year-old Marystown man, who was already suspended from driving, has been charged with dangerous driving after he was witnessed stunting on an ATV on the highway near Salt Pond, Burin.
RCMP say an officer, who had just finished his shift, noticed an ATV speeding on Creston Boulevard. The driver, who was known to police, was not wearing a helmet and continued to speed along the road before driving onto a grassy area, doing donuts.
The officer parked a short distance away and got video of the driver traveling on the highway while standing on the back of the machine while doing a wheelie according to police.
The officer followed the ATV to a local gas station and the off-duty officer seized the driver’s keys. An on-duty officer charged the driver with dangerous operation of a vehicle and ticketed him for a number of other traffic violations. The ATV was seized and impounded. Dana Miller is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
