A candidate for the leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada says he will do very well in Newfoundland and Labrador. Jean Charest, who’s no stranger to Newfoundland and Labrador soil over the course of his political life, spent the past couple of days in this province trying to sign up members.
He says the federal party under his leadership would do things much differently from what we have seen in past few years under the Trudeau Liberals.
Charest says the Liberals are spending freely but not growing the economy.
He says the party he leads will be a national party which unites east and west and makes big things happen like in the 1980s when the government of which he was a part negotiated the Atlantic Accord with NL.
