The Minister of Industry, Energy and Technology has his eyes on completing a just transition out of the oil and gas industry.
Andrew Parsons says while they still want people of the province to feel as though they can make a living in the oil and gas industry, his department is working with climate change top of mind.
He says through partnerships with the Department of Education, they want to help people in those sectors transition to roles in the energy sector, or hydrogen sector.
He says the province has a “battery of cleaner energy here” to help other Atlantic provinces transition away from coal, which has to be done by 2030.
Parsons says the key now is to work with other provinces and the federal government to come up with funding to utilize our provincial resources.
