One woman has been hospitalized, and three other adults displaced following what police are calling a “suspicious” house fire in the west end of St. John’s.
Emergency crews were first called to Boyle Street around 10 p.m. Saturday night to reports of a fire in a basement apartment.
A woman was hospitalized for smoke inhalation as a result.
The Canadian Red Cross is arranging for emergency essentials for the couple that owned the house as well as another relative who lived with them.
They say similar help may be offered to the woman when she is released from hospital.
The RNC says the cause of the fire has been deemed suspicious and an investigation is ongoing.
