A labour shortage in Alberta means at least one company in that province is actively recruiting workers from this province.

Federal Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland referenced Canada’s booming economy in her budget speech last week.

That’s resulted in a labour crunch in many industries.

Superintendent at Kichton Construction LP in Fort McMurray, Alberta Kirk Peyton is originally from Newfoundland and says there’s lots of competition for skilled labour at the moment.

He says it’s very competitive with companies doing a lot of hiring and “trying to get the same people.”
