The Good Friday holiday is a shops closing day in Newfoundland and Labrador.
That means that most stores are closed and all provincial and municipal government offices are also shut down for the day.
Garbage and recycling collection in the capital city that normally occurs on Fridays, will move to Saturday instead.
Check with your local municipality on garbage pickup in your area.
The provincial government made some amendments to the Shops Closing Act for the Good Friday holiday in 2020 due to the initial onset of the COVID pandemic. The changes were made to allow certain essential businesses to open to help control large crowds from filling the stores prior to Easter Sunday, but those changes were later repealed.
