Memorial University has announced a new research chair in marine and coastal environmental engineering.

Dr. Bing Chen has been appointed as the UArctic Chair in Marine and Coastal Environmental Engineering in MUN’s Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science.

UArctic chairs are scientists and engineers who drive academic development in areas relevant to the Arctic.

The first priority is prevention and responding to spills, and the development of green cleanup technologies.

President of UArctic, Lara Kullerud, says he is looking forward to having a new UArctic Chair who will specifically address wise management and good practical solutions to securing a healthy coastline and the livelihoods of those who live on the coast.
