Nine unionized workers at the Lilly, a downtown St. John’s facility run by Choices for Youth, are eager to get back to work after NAPE and Choices for Youth reached a tentative agreement late Wednesday night.
The facility’s nine workers went out on strike in mid-March when attempts to hammer out their first collective agreement reached an impasse.
The Lilly is a 14-unit congregate supportive housing facility for young people. NAPE President Jerry Earle says the strike has been tough on workers and on clients who have been supportive throughout the process.
He says many of the clients were put up in a hotel and workers are eager to get them back in the Lilly, which is their home, and get back to work.
