Engineers with the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure are completing an assessment of damages caused after a transport truck crashed through a guard rail on top of an overpass, leaving part of the vehicle hanging over the road Tuesday evening.

The incident happened on the Botwood overpass around 7 p.m.

The department says the truck was travelling west and crossed over the centre line before hitting the guardrail.

The resulting cleanup caused delays along the Botwood Highway until the wee hours of Wednesday morning.
