Canada’s largest car-sharing marketplace is launching in Newfoundland just in time for this year’s peak tourism season.
There is a significant shortage of rental cars in the province and anyone fortunate enough to secure one will have to pay dearly—around $1,700 a week in some cases.
People can earn extra income by sharing their personal vehicles through Turo. Bookings will be taken starting May 17.
Brenda O’Reilly, the chair of Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador, says Turo will complement the existing car rental capacity and is timely news for tourism operators.
Insurance is available with every reservation to both Turo hosts and guests through Economical Insurance. The ride-sharing company also screens guests, offers 24/7 roadside assistance, and has implemented policies to ensure the safety of the community in the context of COVID-19.
