Conception Bay South is honouring volunteers to celebrate National Volunteer Week.
The Town of CBS held its Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony this week.
This year’s Citizen of the Year award goes to Eric Hart, an active volunteer in the community for over 40 years. Hart founded and is the head coach of the Special Olympics Softball Program, which is the first of its kind in the province. Hart is also the founder of multiple recreation programs centered around the sport of squash.
The Youth Volunteer of the Year is Hope Bishop-Frizzell, who is the president of the Conception Bay South Leo Club, bolstering the membership from two to twenty members in just one month. She also organized various collection drives to help those in need, coached youth sports, and was a peer tutor.
