Central Health has confirmed that the opening of two new long-term care homes have been delayed again.
The authority says there will be “some short delays in admissions” that may last two to three weeks—citing unresolved issues with the water system and flooring in the showers.
That caught the ire of the Tories and critic Barry Petten, who was quick to pounce on the ribbon-cutting to mark the completion of the homes one month ago today.
Petten says the provincial government is deceiving the public regarding the new homes, saying the official opening amounted to nothing more than a photo-op, with the homes still not open.
Petten says it’s a classic case of smoke and mirrors.
Issues with the buildings have been well-documented, with almost four-thousand deficiencies initially identified, including serious safety, accessibility and ventilation issues.
