The provincial government announced several initiatives this morning related to tourism and Come Home Year.
Tourism Minister Steve Crocker says govenment is doing all it can to ensure the province is ready for company this summer.
And to that point, this morning’s announcement was held at the historic Commissariat House, which itself is being spruced up as the province continues to literally get its houses in order for the season.
In total, almost $4 million was set aside for upgrades at various sites to “ensure a higher-quality experience for local residents and travelers.”
There will also be free admission to those sites as part of Come Home Year, running from May 21 until the official end of the season on October 7.
In addition, a new Provincial Historic Sites website was launched today, with more in-depth content about each of the 12 sites, particularly for virtual visitors.
