Nominations for the 2022 Indigenous Advocate Award are now open.

The annual award recognizes outstanding efforts to advance the human rights of Indigenous Peoples in Newfoundland and Labrador. Candidates for the award must self-identify as a status or non-status member of an Indigenous community.

Nominations can be submitted directly to First Voice by visiting firstvoicenl.ca.

The award recipient will be announced in the lead-up to National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21.

Public nominations close on June 5, after which a Selections Committee will convene to review nominations and choose the recipient.
