The Royal St. John’s Regatta has, for many years, had close ties to the Monarchy.
In commemoration of the 70th anniversary of The Queen’s ascension to the throne, this year’s event will be named the 2022 Platinum Jubilee Royal St. John’s Regatta.
President Noelle Thomas Kennnell says many don’t realize the significance of the “Royal” which precedes “St. John’s Regatta.
She says it illustrates an esteemed accolade, provided to very few organizations.
The Royal St. John’s Regatta is the oldest continuing sporting event in North America, with 2022 marking the 204th anniversary.
