Lynx Air is adding more flights in and out of St. John’s International.
The airline is adding two “through-flights” from Edmonton and Calgary, as well as expanding its previously announced Toronto route.
Lynx’s inaugural flight from Toronto to St. John’s will take place on June 28, operating twice a week.
About two weeks later on July 14, the Toronto-St. John’s run will become a daily service. On that same day, they will begin offering five flights a week from Edmonton to St. Johns, and two days later they will begin offering two flights a week from Calgary.
The Edmonton and Calgary flights will operate via Toronto.
At that point, the airline says it will be operating 14 flights in and out of the capital city per week.
CEO Merren McArthur says St. John’s is a very popular location, and they’re proud to make the region more accessible.

The former Chair of Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador is expressing “healthy optimism” about the summer tourism season ahead, especially with the introduction of new airlines in the local market.
Steve Denty, Business Development Advisor for the St. John’s International Airport Authority says new carriers like Lynx and Flare are great news for the local tourism industry.
Moving more people freely is great news and on a competitive level, it’s always good to have new entrants into the market, which keeps existing carriers on their toes.
