With continued questions swirling around how the PUB sets its fuel prices, the provincial government is providing more details this hour on a review of Petroleum Products Act.
The review will be led by a project team consisting of officials from the Department of Justice with support from a number of other departments including Digital Government and Service NL and Industry, Energy and Technology, as well as Transportation and Infrastructure.
The review will also include public consultations, including the PUB, the Consumer Advocate, NL Hydro and Newfoundland Power.
Proposed amendments are designed to help improve transparency of the Public Utilities Board’s process involved in setting petroleum product prices, and to build a greater understanding of what informs fuel pricing.
The review is expected to be completed by early fall, with legislative amendments to be considered through the usual legislative process.
