The Canadian Coast Guard will be conducting icebreaking operations near Main Brook Today.
The icebreaker Captain Molly Kool will be in the area, leaving an open water track behind it as it moves around.
Residents are asked to stay a safe distance away from the vessel as cracks in the ice can extend far away from where the vessel is.
