The vacant position of Seniors’ Advocate should be filled within a couple of weeks.
Minister John Abbott confirmed the timeline for reporters outside the House of Assembly on Thursday.
The job has remained unfilled since former advocate Suzanne Brake retired one year ago as of May 31.
Abbott admits the process has taken longer than he’d like, but says the advocate’s office hasn’t missed a beat.
He says the office continues to operate and do its work, complemented by the provincial advisory council, government policy office, and Seniors NL.
Meanwhile, Abbott says work also continues in his office on the recommendations in Brake’s final report.
