A consumer group is predicting hefty increases in the price of gas this weekend. Dan McTeague, President of Canadians for Affordable Energy, shows on gaswizard.ca, that just about every city in their cross-Canada survey shows gas going up by roughly ten cents in metro.
Changes in most provinces would likely occur Monday but Newfoundland and Labrador has regulation so the price has to be set by the Public Utilities Board. It’s unclear if prices do go up when the P.U.B. would authorize them to do so.
If the board applies the same criteria as McTeague, we would be paying record-high prices—about $2.24 per litre. That almost tops the country but Vancouver and Victoria face an even bigger pinch at the pumps with the highest amount of tax.
Meanwhile, diesel is predicted to drop to $2.65 per litre.
