COVID-19 modelling for the summer is looking favourable.
That’s according to the province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald.
Mandatory masking restrictions are set to lift in the province’s schools following the long weekend and with Come Home Year on the horizon, there is concern about the province’s COVID-19 situation.
However, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says the trend of decreasing hospitalizations and case numbers is encouraging.
She says new case numbers will not reach zero or near zero as they have in the past, but they are expecting to see lower transmission rates and hospitalizations.
As the Fall approaches, Public Health is expecting transmission rates to increase once again.
