A new video has been launched that cuts to the chase on the tragic impact of speeding.
It’s a project between the Citizens’ Crime Prevention Association, RNC, RCMP and the NLC, in concert with UpSkyDown Films.
The plan is to bombard TV and social media with the 2-minute video and 60-second clip, with the ultimate goal of slowing people down.
The association’s president, Bobbi Stanford, says it’s obvious that speeding and dangerous driving, in general, is worsening. She says they wanted to depict the results of that, adding there were long discussions as to how vivid the video should be.
But she says it was agreed that mere words wouldn’t do, adding people have to see a body on the ground or a person on a stretcher for it to sink in.
The re-creation of a real crash was filmed in the Whitbourne area, with help from the town’s fire department and local businesses.
